Tuesday Tea – Vanilla Comoro

img_8120Today I’m drinking Harney & Sons Vanilla Comoro.  This is such a sweet-smelling, smooth and calming tea.  It has two ingredients: black tea and vanilla.  When you open the canister the smell of vanilla instantly swirls up and smells heavenly.  It needs just a touch of sweetener, and if you want, a bit of cream.  This is a very good afternoon tea to enjoy with a muffin, scone or other treat.

If you’re looking to build your tea stash, I really recommend this tea (and all the Harney & Sons teas).  Tea is great to sip on throughout the day.  It can be a good at curbing cravings, too.  Many herbal teas have great medicinal properties, as well.  I really believe it does a person good to drink a lot of tea.

This week is beyond crazy.  We are getting packed up to move!  Finishing taxes (corporate taxes are no joke), getting ready for Easter, and gearing up for our first BBQ contest of the season.  Yes, we are CRAZY.  We are doing all those things in the next two and a half weeks.  And I might keel over at the end of it.  I just might.

One goal I have is to keep our healthy food choices a priority during this craziness.  I realize that might be difficult, but I’m trying to plan ahead.  I have been meal planning two weeks out, and this week we are making two different types of protein muffins that we’ll keep in the fridge and should carry us through our move.  We are also going to be mindful of remembering to take supplements each day.

I know alot of people think I’m nuts.  Maybe I am.  My son Robbie, is the catalyst for our healthy changes.  Right now we are very low grain (and the gluten we do get is from Einkorn flour), very low sugar, no preservatives or artificial ingredients, and no food dyes.  And, well, the jury is still out on the tangible results – we have so much work to do, so much to figure out.  And waiting.  I realize these changes won’t happen overnight.  But, still… I’m encouraged.  I will say that the entire family has seen a lot of positive changes.  I am down to my lowest weight since my early 20s, my husband has lost 20 lbs, the kids never got sick at all this winter, and neither did I.  I have more energy and feel more balanced.  It’s been great all around.

Here’s a photo of our backyard view at the new house.  We have big plans for this land – a garden and fruit tress (30 of them, to be exact), kids running around, lots of chickens, and maybe a German Shepherd sometime in the future.
